Seeking intruder proof veggie enclosures

Do you have a fantastic intruder proof veggie enclosure or quoll proof chook house that you would be willing to show to a group of people?  Are you close to Penguin, ie, within half hour bus trip?
NWEC is having a field trip on 23rd June 2012, and is looking for good examples of fencing/netting that really work, and enable you to have productive gardens in a bushland setting.  If you fit the bill, and are interested in showing off your enclosure, then please contact Greg Taylor on 0448 912781

Organic & Sustainable Living Festival 2013

Recruiting an event team

Did you enjoy the last Organic & Sustainable Living Festival in Penguin?

Would you like to see it happen again in 2013?

If the event is going to happen in 2013, then we need a group of enthusiastic and committed people to start the planning for the next festival.

Who would you like to be keynote speakers? What topics? You have a chance to put your ideas and energy into the festival while promoting sustainable living and organic growing. Please get in touch with Julie 0437 507393 coordinator@nwec.org.au if you want to get involved.

Organic & Sustainable Living Festival – one week to go!

Sunday 4th March from 9am to 4pm.

Get ready for an informative and exciting day at the Penguin Sustainable Living Centre (Ironcliffe Road).

As in previous years we have a great line up of speakers:

  • Sally Wise (author of A Year In A Bottle)
  • Linda Cockburn (author of Living The Good Life) and
  • Tino Carnevale (ABC Gardening Australia presenter).

In the veggie patch we also have gardening guru Graeme Stevenson ready to talk anybody and everybody about tips/techniques for gardening organically – ask him about where the “verms” come from for the vermiculture, or how to deal with oxalis.

There are also plenty of things for children to do and see (of all ages). Plus a variety of exhibitors with products, services or information on how to live more sustainably. And of course good food and music.

Members get a discount on the entry fee (and yes you can sign up or renew on the day). Download the flyer festival poster 2012.
